Democracy for Sale: Bargain Basement Price – Only $1,000

A friend called a few minutes ago to ask if I had received my $1,000 check from the U.S Government? I thought she was joking, given the fact that DJT had promised everyone $5,000 on several occasions recently.

“No, she said, “I didn’t believe it was real either until I went to the bank and deposited it.” The clerk told her that “This is a real government check. Others have deposited them today as well.”

If you are like me, at first comes the shock and then an awareness that I should not surprised. This poor man has now moral compass. Our nation’s most corrupt “leader” believes he can actually bribe the American people. This deluded moralless man has turned the dignity and great history of our nation on its head… and now this insult to democracy? It must STOP.

Such an open attempt to payoff the American people, less than a month before an election that he appears to be losing, causes the knees to wobble and the mind to wonder how much more damage can be done to our nation’s soul.

This is real. My friend cashed the check and immediately wrote another to a local community group that offers meals and groceries to those facing deep financial hardship. Good for her! I don’t know who else is getting such checks, but if I receive one, I will do what she did and encourage others to not accept the venal, conscienceless, and corrupt world of DJT.

The Gospel of Mark, verse 8:36 sums this all up well: “What does it profit persons to gain the whole world but lose their soul?”
